Cystoscopy is an examination that allows for the visualization of the urinary tract (urethra and bladder).
The examination typically lasts between 5 and 15 minutes and usually does not require an accompanying person
The doctor inserts a tube called a cystoscope through your urethra into your bladder. Using an optical fiber (camera), the doctor views the images projected on a screen, allowing them to conduct the examination. This examination is used for diagnosis, monitoring bladder tumors, or installing a urinary catheter to facilitate urine elimination.
Biopsy
During the examination, it is possible to perform a biopsy. In this case, a small instrument is introduced into the cystoscope to take a tissue sample. The sample taken will be sent to the hospital’s laboratory for analysis.
